Updated Nissan Qashqai To Debut In Geneva

Considered an important and major auto show, the International Geneva Motor Show will be where Nissan debuts their facelifted 2018 Qashqai next month.

AutoExpress believes the refreshed crossover will debut with the Piloted Drive 1.0, a system that was reported to come in the next generation Qashqai around 2018 or 2019. Now Nissan fans will be able to experience the first iteration of Piloted Drive and it’s said to be able to operate the vehicle’s steering, throttle and brake in order to drive itself in stop and go traffic and on motorways. But don’t expect the same lane changing capability as Tesla, that’s still a years away.

For those interested, the new technology won’t drastically increase the Qashqai’s price as Nissan wants to make it accessible to the masses. In the future it’ll even appear in models like the Juke and Micra, both of which needs to be sold for a reasonable price.

Aside from that, the 2018 Nissan Qashqai is expected to look similar to the Qashqai Premium Concept vehicle unveiled at last year's Geneva show. Nothing too major, perhaps a few small changes to the bumpers, lights and grille. Maybe Nissan will even offer us the gold and black paint combination as a part of the facelift package.

We’ll know more once the Geneva show is underway starting March 9.

Now that Nissan is comfortable in releasing special versions this has me thinking that some time down the road we could see a Qashqai Nismo. If they can create a Juke Nismo, there's no reason why the QQ can't get a similar version.

Take the above and change the gold accents to red, put on some wheels that are similar to the 370 Nismo, and possibly throw in a little carbon here and there. The interior could be black with red stitching everywhere, a bit more of a sport oriented steering wheel, and it should be good to go lol. Bit of a power bump as well.

Well, the new Qashqai won't be coming in black and red, but that rendering does give us idea on where we can add exterior accent colors to make the lines pop. I actually like the dark gold accent color and it looks good with black. If it was the type of gold that's blindingly chrome then that would be a different matter.

I agree it does look good. I love that they even managed to get a headlight trim piece done in gold on the inside which is super cool. It's those types of little details that I love to see.

Not that hard for them to do.

I have experience in pulling apart headlights and typically those projector surrounds come out easily, and that's just on my end as a DIY'er. On a manufacturing level this is an easy win for them, much like many other things we've been seeing even with regular base models. Brands selling models like this always look for those easy small wins.

Oh no it's definitely very easy to get done. But a lot of people think that it's rocket science and ridiculously difficult. On a manufacturing level, this is nothing but another piece on the assembly line.

Very effective though as it attracts a lot of people. It stands out and looks different

I kinda find it a little tedious to get it done on my own, granted I have done it but I'd rather just pay someone else to do it or obviously have it down by factory.
