Fuel gauge reads full when tank is half full.

Hi,

Just leased a 2017 Rogue Sport and I am experiencing something weird. I filled my tank a week ago, and have been commuting all week. My fuel gauge suddently began to show a full tank when I only show 260 miles left of fuel. A full tank was showing just under 400 miles to empty when I filled up. Obviously there is something wrong with the gauge.

Has anyone else encountered this problem with your Rogue Sport or any other Nissan car?

It's not just the Rouge Sport from what I'm reading. Did a bit of research and Repair Pal says the "fuel gauge may read incorrectly due to a faulty sender in the tank. A failed fuel level sender will require replacement to restore correct fuel gauge operation." The listed affected years include 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017. So if you've just leased the Rogue then it'll still fall under the warranty period and they should fix it under warranty for free.

Update!!!

Ok, I filled up my tank again. 14.55 gallons. The average MPG was at 23.5 and the miles to empty showed 400 miles after the fill-up. This means that the gas in the tank came to a little over 17 gallons. The specs for this car say it holds 14.5 gallons. I guess the specs are not correct. Looks like the gauge is working is just not very accurate.

I ended up not taking it to the dealer.
