Not quite sure why but Nissan collaborated with UEFA, PlayStation and Konami to turn a Qashqai into a PlayStation controller. Fans were able control their soccer player with the brake pedal as pass, accelerator as shoot, steering wheel for direction and the indicator stalk as forward or backward movement.

Here it is in action.


What do you think the point of this was?

I would assume that Nissan's ultimate goal would be to increase the qashqai sales but this seems to be a weird way to go about it. Just read the replies from a playstation site and there isn't one positive comment in there.
Maybe partnering up with Rocket League would have been a better idea.

People like video games. This seems like a good way to get those people into the Qashqai. Pretty ingenious actually.

Being a family vehicle i still think it's all about targeting younger crowd to get to the older ones being their parents who they live with.

Agreed. I'll never understand what some marketing departments are thinking about.
creative engagement.

Which they totally nailed, but that doesn't mean it was a marketing success...

We seem to be in an age of all press is good press ;)
