Not quite sure why but Nissan collaborated with UEFA, PlayStation and Konami to turn a Qashqai into a PlayStation controller. Fans were able control their soccer player with the brake pedal as pass, accelerator as shoot, steering wheel for direction and the indicator stalk as forward or backward movement.

What do you think the point of this was?

The point... engage people from that demographic to get in the vehicle and have a memorable moment.

I would assume that Nissan's ultimate goal would be to increase the qashqai sales but this seems to be a weird way to go about it. Just read the replies from a playstation site and there isn't one positive comment in there.
Maybe partnering up with Rocket League would have been a better idea.

It could be a way for them to target teens and young adults that will talk about it to their parents.

Being a family vehicle i still think it's all about targeting younger crowd to get to the older ones being their parents who they live with.
