Let's be honest here....the stock sound system that the Nissan Rogue Sport comes with sucks.
The speakers sound really "bassy" and the radio is mediocre at best.
Two questions here.....

1. Has anyone replaced the speakers with better quality speakers?
If so, did it sound better or does the radio have a lot to do with it?

2. I don't wanna mess with the stock radio because it's integrated into the car, especially the steering wheel controls.
Not sure how an aftermarket radio (Google Audio) would look on there.
ANyway, does anyone know if there's a way to update the firmware on the radio? Perhaps making it a little better, more options, ect?

I've replaced quite a few stock speakers in many of the cars I've owned over the yrs. Much better sound in all cases. In our Focus ZX5, I changed out the fronts w/Boston Acoustics. Rears most recently w/Infinity's. Thousand times better sound and am very critical in music reproduction. This is w/the stock head unit. Good enough. I'd say your stock radio is fine. The problem in the Rogue Sport is that the speakers are very low in the doors. If you can find a front speaker w/an adjustable tweeter which you could move slightly upwards, the better as the mids and highs would be more directed to your ears. The worse location for the tweeters would be in the front dash under the windshield. (Exactly where they're located on some models! Not on the "S" :) ) Not sure what size speakers are in the doors, but you could check w/Crutchfields. They'll supply the adapter harness for free I believe. Should be well worth the cost.
