At the rate things are going, Takata might just go out of business soon. Then you won't have to worry about any of this stuff.

 

But when it comes to racing a lot of changes are done to a vehicle and nothing mentioned here can be tied to a race version, aside from the chassis and how rigid it is.

 

Guess their biggest problem is the airbag department. At least I know I won't fly out of a qashqai if it's good enough for racing.

 

Takata makes seat belts too... I don't really want their products in my car anymore.

 

I think they well known for racing belts and harnesses, they have a noticable presence in the JDM tuning scene.

UPDATE 11/9/2015, 10:35 a.m.: Nissan has now joined Toyota, Mazda, and Honda in announcing that it will no longer use Takata-supplied airbag inflators. The Automotive News report on Nissan’s declaration also notes that Takata lost $70 million in the second quarter of 2015.

I panicked for nothing. Found a list of affected vehicles on caranddriver.com and the qashqai was not one of them.

 

Thankfully that's the case.
Maybe situations like this might push consumers to ask more questions , and with that being said it might help to find out the specifics of the safety equipment on board.

 

I think you have to look into the details of the production timeframe those bags were produced in, once you get something produced after that you should be fine, espeically with all the awareness and things that happened when this news broke out.
